FAQs

Finding the right care home

Finding the right care home for yourself or a loved one can seem like a daunting challenge. We understand how overwhelming it can seem, so we are here to help you get started and to make the process more manageable.

Being a small, family-run care provider, Salveo Care are able to offer personal guidance and support. We will help differentiate between types of care, the funding options available to you and how the transition into a care home works, allowing you to make the right decisions for you and your family.

We hope you find our answers to frequently asked questions useful, but nothing replaces a personal discussion. If you have further questions, and to enable us to guide you through the process, please contact a member of our team.

Moving In

If you contact us, we will ask you a few simple questions over the phone and answer any of your queries before inviting you to visit the home. We hope to give you enough information during your visit to allow you to make a decision that’s right for you and your family.

We always assess residents before admission to ensure that we offer the appropriate level of care and facilities for a person’s individual needs. The assessment can take place wherever the resident is staying at a time that is convenient for you.

Usually it varies from a few days to a few weeks, depending on our availability, whether we have the appropriate provisions in place to care for the resident’s individual needs and of course your own preference. However, if you are hoping to move into our home urgently, please let our Care Relations Manager know. We will do our best to support a quick and safe admission.

Your residence in the home for the first four weeks is on a trial basis, so that if during or at the end of the period, either you or the home’s management regard the arrangement as unsatisfactory for the long term, the agreement may be terminated with reasonable notice from either side.

Our bedrooms are fully furnished but you are welcome to bring in personal belongings to make it feel like home.

Costs

Accommodation, hospitality and care are all included in your fees, as well as use of all our facilities and other services, such as laundry and activities.

Fees are normally reviewed annually but we reserve the right to review them more frequently if economic conditions change, or if a resident opts to change their room. An increase in the dependency level of the resident may also result in fee reviews but we will always provide plenty of notice before increasing your fees.

It is important that, in the event of your funds being reduced to a level whereby you qualify for local authority funding support, you tell us so that we can arrange for a reassessment of means to pay your charges. In the event of you qualifying for local authority funding support, we will review your terms and conditions.

If you have a specific service in mind, please don’t hesitate to ask, but common additional services include the following: newspaper subscriptions, hairdressing, professional dry cleaning, transport, alternative therapies, private telephone installation, call charges, audio and visual installation and servicing (beyond the Freeview TV provided by us).
