      Kitchen Assistant (AW)

      We are currently looking for a kitchen assistant to become part of our team at our Austenwood Nursing Home in Gerrards Cross.
       

      This is a full time, fixed term contract for 12 months.

    • Kitchen Assistant

      This job description is not exhaustive and is subject to change by the Company at any time to meet changing demands placed upon the Company or changes in legislation. As with all employees, the Company expects the role holder to be flexible and willing to go the extra mile.

       

      Job Role:

       

      To provide an efficient and effective kitchen service that fully meets the needs of the residents, along with the high standards expected in the Care Home. Working as part of the catering team to ensure that the kitchen is cleaned and maintained to a high standard in accordance to the Care Homes’ guidelines, in addition to the individual needs and requirements of the residents.
       
      This role will require the post holder to work flexibly in the kitchen to ensure that a seamless service is provided for the residents.

       

      Principle Duties:

      • To provide a high quality kitchen service to ensure all areas of the kitchen and dining areas are cleaned to a high standard in compliance with the specific cleaning guidelines and schedules, and all kitchen equipment is clean and fit for use.
      • To work under the direction of the chef when in the kitchen to assist in the preparation, cooking and service of food, and assist in the smooth service of meals to residents.
      • To support the chef and care team with meal service for the residents, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
      • To respect and maintain confidentiality of resident’s personal information at all times, including their right to privacy, dignity and choice.
      • To understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements that are relevant such as Health & Safety, COSHH, and all aspects of the Health & Social Care Act
      • To ensure Company standards are maintained in relation to infection control.
      • To ensure all equipment used is in full, safe working order, promptly reporting any faults in accordance with Company procedures.
      • To check all areas of the kitchen are supplied with adequate items and inform the Chef of any shortages.
      • To always be alert and use your own initiative to spot clean any spillages as they occur.
      • To be an active and helpful member of the team, contribute to meetings, attend training sessions and ensure that The Care Home is a friendly and supportive working environment.
      • To participate in audit and quality assurance as directed by the Head Chef or Home Manager

      This is a team role, therefore communication and team work are mutually important. Prioritising your workload, getting tasks done and pride in your work is essential.

       
      General Requirements:
       

      In addition to the above, there are some general requirements that apply to all jobs in the Home:

      • Take responsibility for the safeguarding of adults and follow the Organisation’s whistle blowing policy as required.
      • Participation in staff meetings.
      • Participation in training activities.
      • Participation in staff supervision and personal development review.
      • Participation in quality assurance systems.
      • Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of caring for older people.

      All duties must be carried out to comply with:

      • Notification of accidents and other health and safety requirements.
      • Statutory legislation in particular the health and hygiene regulations.
      • Agreed codes of good practice.
      • Fire precautions.

    Our website is based on a content management system hosted by Strikingly LLC in the USA – and the data capture from our contact form is securely retained by them as a back-up. 
    
    We do not however transfer any data received out of the European Economic Area (EEA).
